ACT is the basis for most of my approach to therapy issues. ACT's motto is : Embrace what you have and move in the direction that matters to you. ACT is a mindfulness and acceptance based therapy.
FUNCTIONAL ANALYTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
In my opinion, FAP is a distillation of why therapy works when it works. FAP teaches therapists to pay attention with compassion and patience to what is most important in their client's behaviors, both inside the therapy room and outside. If ACT informs what I do in therapy, FAP informs how I do it.
BA is a powerful and empowering treatment for depression that focuses on living well rather than just not being depressed. BA has impressive research support.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY
Originally developed for people with Borderline Personality Disorder, DBT has been shown to be helpful in a variety of problems. DBT skills are basically How To Live a Human LIfe Well skills. In my opinion, DBT skills should be taught in our school systems.
INTEGRATIVE COUPLES BEHAVIOR THERAPY
Developed by Neil Jacobsen, who also developed Behavioral Activation, ICBT is a pragmatic and affirming tool for couples.
