FAQ
How can therapy help?
When what you’re doing to make a difference in your life doesn’t work, working with a competent therapist can help. The therapy relationship is different from any other relationship. It is a relationship that is totally focused on you. It is about your becoming stronger, happier and more effective. The only things you need to do are show up for your appointment, be as honest as you can be about what’s happening for you and pay your bill. The therapist will be focused on listening not to just the facts of your life, but the patterns, then helping you to see the patterns and then helping you to change those patterns. Friends and family members are usually too close to see the patterns or don’t feel comfortable pointing them out.

How long does it take?
Most people can see some benefit in as little as six to eight sessions, but for deep and long lasting change, usually six months to two years of weekly sessions are beneficial.

How much does it cost?
This is a difficult question to answer, as insurance coverage varies. My fees are at or below the standard for someone with my level of experience and training.

How often should I come?
Initially, once a week is the best. The early stages of therapy are about building trust and learning to work together. Intervals of more than a week usually seem less expensive, but in the long run are less effective and more expensive as the working phase of therapy takes longer to get to.

What is effective and sensible treatment?
Effective and sensible treatment focuses on what works for you in your particular life situation.
